Voice Recorder App

Voice Recorder

Using the Voice Recorder App

Your Gabb Phone’s™ Voice Recorder app lets you record and listen to voice memos. This app is great for recording interviews for school projects or conversations with your friends. You can even record a voice message and send it to a friend!

Here’s what else you’ll learn here:

  • Setting the audio format of your recording
  • Recording your voice
  • Adding tags to your voice memo
  • Playing a voice memo
  • Trimming a voice memo
  • Sharing a voice memo
Setting the audio format of your recording

To choose an audio file type for your voice recording, tap settings_voice in the top right of your screen. Choosing the M4A file type will save storage space on your phone, but your recordings will be lower quality. Choosing the WAV file type will give you better sound quality, but your recordings will take up more storage space.

Gabb pro Tips

M4A should work for most of your recordings. If you’re working on a school project that you need super good audio for, you may want to change it to a WAV file.

Recording your voice

Tap fiber_manual_record to start recording your voice memo. While you’re recording, you can tap pause_circle_filled to pause and to start recording again. Tap fiber_manual_recordDone to stop recording. Type the name you want to use to save your voice memo, then tap Save.

Gabb pro Tips

  1. Choose a quiet setting. Record your memo inside, away from the wind and other sounds of nature – or busy streets. Try to choose a place where there aren’t a lot of other people around. If possible, record in a smaller room to avoid an echo.
  2. Hold the microphone close. The closer your phone is to your mouth, the clearer your voice recording will be. If you’re recording two or more people talking, be sure to move your phone closer to each person’s mouth as they speak.

Adding tags to your voice memo

While recording, you can add tags to your memo to add more detail and help keep them organized.

Add a photo tag by tapping camera_alt. Photo tags are a great way to show who is speaking – you can just take a photo of the person once they begin talking! You can also add an empty tag by tapping during recording. Once you’ve added an empty flag, you can fill it by taking a photo, adding an existing photo, or adding text.

Gabb pro Tips

Tags can help you keep your voice memos more organized. Are some for school projects? Make “school” a tag.

Playing a voice memo

Tap list at the top right of your Voice Recorder app’s main screen to view a list of all your voice recordings. Then tap a memo to play it. You can also add tags to your voice memo while you’re replaying something you already recorded. You can even tap to speed up or slow down the audio when you’re replaying your memo!

Trimming a voice memo

While playing a voice memo, tap content_cut to open the trim tool. Then, drag the arrows to change the start and stop points for your voice clip. Once you’ve finished, tap play_circle_outline to listen to the newly trimmed recording. If you’re happy with the result, tap Trim to save your new clip. From there, type a file name for the clip and press Save to save the changes to your memo!

Gabb pro Tips

Not sure exactly what you want to record? Record more than you think you need. That way, you can trim anything you don’t need after you record. Better safe than sorry!

Sharing a voice memo

To share a voice memo through a text message, view your recordings list and tap the three dots beside the recording you want to share. Choose Share and then select the person you want to send the memo to.

Gabb safety Tips

It’s fun to share a voice recording with your friends via text message. But for your safety, you should only share memos with people you know well!
