Customizing Your Gabb Phone’s Settings

Your Gabb Phone™ has lots of options to set things up just how you want. Most of these options can be found in the Settings app.

Getting your settings just right is great. But if you change a setting you don’t understand, it could mess up how your phone works. That’s why it’s best to look at your Settings app with your parents.

In this article, you’ll learn to customize:

  • Network settings
  • Connected devices
  • Battery
  • Features
  • Display
  • Sound
  • Storage
  • Privacy
  • Location
  • Security
  • Accessibility
  • System
Network settings

Wi-Fi: Tap the button to turn your phone’s Wi-Fi on or off. If you turn it on, only connect to a trusted network, like home or school. Otherwise, your information is at risk.

Airplane mode: Turning on Airplane mode disables your data connection. You won’t be able to call anyone or send texts unless you connect to Wi-Fi.

Call settings: You can turn on Wi-Fi calling, which lets you make calls without a data connection. You can also set the address sent if you make an emergency call (911) on Wi-Fi calling.

Private DNS: Turning on Private DNS mode is a way to secure your information and activity. Your parents can help you set this up.

Wireless emergency alerts: You can get several types of emergency alerts on your phone. To turn an alert on or off, tap the button beside it.

Connected devices

This screen shows all the devices connected to your phone. Tap a device to change its settings. For example, if you’re connected to a computer through USB, you can tap USB to switch from charging to file transfer mode.

Gabb safety Tips

Never connect to a device you don’t recognize. Otherwise, your data could be stolen.

Managing Bluetooth devices

You can see devices you previously connected through Bluetooth. To connect to a device, tap it from the list. Tap See all if you don’t see the device at first.

To connect a new Bluetooth device, tap Pair new device. Make your device “discoverable” and choose it from the list.

Tap settings beside a device to change its settings. Here, you can rename, forget, or connect Bluetooth devices. You can also choose whether you want to use the device for call audio, media audio, or both.

Gabb safety Tips

Be careful listening to music with Bluetooth headphones. Because the sound is right in your ear, it’s easy to damage your hearing.

Battery

Your Gabb Phone has a long battery life! But you can make your battery go even further.

Power-saver: Add more battery life by reducing CPU speed or screen brightness. Your phone may be slower, especially playing games.

Ultra Power-saver: This adds even more battery life than Power-saver mode. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location services are disabled. Some apps may not work as usual.

Adaptive battery: Your phone will automatically save battery power based on what you’re doing.

Dark mode: Your display will be mostly dark colors instead of light. This can help save battery.

Battery optimization: Your phone automatically helps each app save more battery, but you can change this. Note that changes could drain your battery quicker or make your apps work worse than usual.

Features

Choose how you want to navigate your phone. With one-handed mode, you can even shrink your display so it’s easier to use with one hand.

You can also set times for your phone to turn on or off with scheduled power settings.

Gabb pro Tips

Need to go to bed at the same time every night? You could set your phone to turn off every night before bed. Or, you could set it to turn off every morning before school starts.

Display

Change your phone’s brightness level or turn adaptive brightness on or off. Your brightness will respond to your environment. Turn on the dark theme to give your phone darker colors. Enabling night light will lessen your phone’s blue light, which is helpful if you use your phone before bed.

Here, you can change your screen settings like wallpaper and auto-rotate. You can also set the amount of time before your screen turns off.

Change your font or display size to make things bigger or smaller on your phone. You can also customize your screensaver and lock screen settings.

Sound

Control the volume of media, ring, alarms, notifications, and calls. You can turn on Do Not Disturb mode. You can also adjust other sounds, like dial pad dones, on and off from this screen.

Gabb pro Tips

If you’re not allowed to use your phone at school, try turning on Do Not Disturb mode before class each day. This will help you not get distracted by it when you’re in class.

Storage

Learn how much free storage your phone has and what’s taking up the most room. Tap the Free up space button to see ways you can create more storage if you’re running low.

Privacy

Tap Permission manager to see which apps can access your camera, location, and more. Review these permissions with your parents to make sure you’re safe.

You can also change what’s shown on your screen when you enter a password or lock your phone.

Gabb pro Tips

Add your mom or dad’s number to your home screen in case you lose your phone.

Location

Turn location on or off. Having your location on is helpful to let your parents know where you are. Check this section carefully so you know which apps are accessing your location.

Gabb Safety Tips

Never share your location on social media or with people you don’t know well.

Security

Set your phone’s security, like how it can be unlocked and who can access key settings. Choose these settings with your parents when you get your phone.

Accessibility

Your Gabb Phone has accessibility options for people with vision or hearing impairments. You can magnify your screen, make color adjustments, and balance audio from this section.

System

You’ll probably only need to set these preferences once. Select your time zone, language, and keyboard settings. You can also reset your connections or your entire phone.

Resetting your phone (factory reset) will erase all your data, so check with your parents before using this option!

Need extra protection? Ask your parents about an Gabb Protect for your phone. Even the safest users make mistakes!
